WHY I'M RUNNING FOR SCHOOL BOARD
I am running for school board because we need an equitable representation of voice, leadership and experience that reflects the communities the board serves.
To provide every child with the education they deserve, the 509j School Board requires a vision that is inclusive of the community, provides an inclusive process of engagement and is transparent and accountable to the communities of Jefferson County.

I believe school board leadership should reflect the communities it serves!
Equitable representation benefits all students and families of the district. My background and experience give me a unique voice on the school board to help shape an equitable educational system. I value our school district’s diversity and firmly believe in equity and inclusion at all levels of decision making.

MY BACKGROUND
I grew up in Simnasho, Oregon, which is in the northern part of the Warm Springs Reservation and the northern part of the 509J school district boundary.
I rode the bus an hour to and from school from 5th grade until I graduated from Madras High School in 2005. I have firsthand experience of the complexity of our school districts, and now, both of my children attend school in this district at the Warm Springs K-8 Academy. I relate to the struggles of many families, not only in education but also as a single parent who struggles on a daily basis with raising children, working and attending graduate school all in the midst of a pandemic. I get it!
I Have Professional Experience and Service That Matters!
My professional career, volunteer service and life experiences have prepared me well for the Jefferson County 509J School Board. As a Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs community planner, I currently manage a program that focuses on school dropout prevention, high-school readiness, career/college readiness, family inclusivity when attaining higher education and trauma-informed, culturally relevant curriculum development and practices.
